The victim suffered a broken spine after being dragged from his car
Police have released CCTV pictures of a biker gang seen speeding on Longford Road on the same day a man was savagely beaten in a road rage attack in Coventry.
The victim was dragged from his car and battered in Longford Road on Sunday, July 9.
The dad-of-three suffered a broken spine and spent two weeks in hospital before being sent home to recover. He still has to wear a back brace on a daily basis.
Police trawled through CCTV footage following the incidents and have now released the photos of 11 bikers they wish to speak to.
The gang, who were on scrambler bikes and quad bikes, were seen speeding up and down Longford Road that day and officers are eager to speak to them as they continue their investigation.
A spokesman for Coventry Police said: “Officers have been trawling CCTV in the local area and a clip has been released in a bid to identify some of those responsible.
“On the day, we received a report of an assault and damage to a vehicle where a man had sustained serious injuries and we’re appealing for members of the public to submit any footage and images taken of these incidents to the investigation team.
“Officers are particularly keen to trace the movements of the yellow or orange coloured quad bike.”
Police were criticised at the time for taking two hours to respond to 999 calls regarding the attack.
In response, Detective Chief Inspector Anthony Bennett, from Coventry Police, said: “Regrettably on this occasion we have fallen below the standards that we expect.
“We fully understand the victim and his family’s anguish and like them, we want to bring these offenders to justice as quickly as possible.”
