Motorcyclist hits deer, gets dragged by vehicle on Route 5

TOWN OF EVANS, N.Y. — Town of Evans police say a motorcyclist hit a deer and was dragged by another vehicle on Route 5 Friday morning.

The incident happened just before 7:30 a.m.

According to police, the motorcyclist was headed east near the New Era Cap Company when he collided with the deer. This caused the operator and his motorcycle to go down on the roadway and slide into the westbound lanes.

The operator then became entangled with a westbound vehicle, and it started to drag him.

The motorcyclist was sent to ECMC after being freed by fire and police officials. The other driver was not injured.

Route 5 was reopened around 10:30 a.m. and the accident is still under investigation.
