H-D themselves have recognized these dealerships as some of their very best.
1. Barrie Harley-Davidson – Barrie, Ontario
Each year, Harley-Davidson recognizes their top dealerships by awarding a select few “Bar & Shield” awards. These prestigious awards are given only to the best of the best when it comes to customer experience and sales. There are four levels of Bar & Shield winner – Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. While H-D doesn’t publicly disclose the winners, Powersports Business keeps a running list of dealerships that have announced their recognition.
Barrie Harley-Davidson in Barrie, Ontario is one of only 6 dealerships to receive the coveted Platinum Bar & Shield. The 32,400 square foot facility is a one stop shop for the Harley enthusiast, combining a state of the art facility with everything from a huge motorcycle inventory to collectible goods. In addition to the H-D award, Barrie has also been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 10 Retailers for 10 years running.
2. Flaming Gorge Harley-Davidson – Green River, Wyoming
Another Platinum Bar & Shield winner, Flaming Gorge Harley-Davidson, has been slinging bikes in Wyoming since 1986 with the same husband/wife ownership team. During that time span they raised three children, all of whom now work at the dealership. Things haven’t always been great, however, as Flaming Gorge sold a whopping 8 bikes in their first year of business. But now business is booming, and the uniquely decorated building lives up to their motto as “The Friendliest Dealership in the West.”
3. Harley-Davidson of Kokomo – Kokomo, Indiana
H-D of Kokomo might be one of many Harley dealerships around Indianapolis, but they’re the only one to win a coveted Platinum Bar & Shield. The dealership, open for 10+ years now, also sells more Harleys than any other place in town, which is likely a result of their top notch service and large inventory.
4. Huntington Beach Harley-Davidson – Westminster, California
Huntington Beach Harley-Davidson hasn’t been around very long, but they’ve already picked up a Platinum Bar & Shield award. That probably has a lot to do with the fact that it’s owned and operated by Michael and Paul Veracka, who happen to own four other top 10 Harley dealerships across the nation. So if you’re out in Southern California and in the market for a new bike, you’ll probably want to check them out first.
